MMA Fighter Chungreng Koren's Humble Request to PM Narendra Modi:
As political opponents look to corner PM Narendra Modi and the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, a video of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Chungreng Koren has captured the public's attention. In a heart-wrenching appeal, he invites PM Modi to visit the violence-ridden state of Manipur.
The Congress Party has also shared the video, marking it as a critique against PM Modi. In the video, a tearful Koren can be seen pleading for peace. Living in Manipur, he expresses the dire situation: 'Every day people are dying. Even in relief camps, there's a scarcity of food and water.'
A Tearful Plea from Koren to PM Modi
Reportedly, the clip surfaced after Koren's match at Matrix Fight Night (MFN) 14 and has since become widely shared on social media. Through his tears, Koren relays his message: 'This is my earnest request. Modi Ji... I wish to send a message through you.'
Koren continues, visibly shaken, 'Violence has spread across Manipur for almost a year now. Daily casualties and even those in relief camps are left without proper nutrition... and the children, they are unable to study. We're very concerned about our future.'
Following his heartfelt message, Koren bursts into tears. Overcome with emotion, he implores, 'Modi Ji, please visit and witness Manipur for yourself. We urgently need peace.'
Koren Abandons Wrestling Due to Financial Struggle
Recently crowned interim Bantamweight Champion at MFN 14, Koren fights under the banner of Warriors Cove Mixed Martial Arts. He made this appeal in the ring post-match. Speaking on the phone, Koren shared difficulties in expressing his complex emotions and sentiments fully.
Born on February 1, 1998, in the village of Kamu Kaoreng Andro in the Imphal East District, Koren is a family man at 26, with a natural affinity for sports from a young age. Starting his career with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), he abandoned wrestling due to financial woes but returned to the ring years later to pursue wrestling and MMA.

Residing in Gurugram with his family, he supplements his income by conducting personal training classes. 'Money is a necessary evil for life and sports. I have three kids to support, yet my passion for the sport drives me to overcome financial challenges and manage everything,' declares Koren.
Aspire to conquer the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Koren states, 'I borrowed money to compete in MFN. Though financially strained, my dream is the UFC. I believe I can achieve it; I can reach those heights.'
