The 'Mirzapur' series boasts a colossal fan following, with viewers eagerly anticipating the upcoming season. Munna Tripathi, better known as Munna Bhaiya, is among the characters who have left an indelible mark. As the third season inches closer, fans wonder whether Munna's formidable presence will grace the screen once more. Divyenndu Sharma, the actor behind Munna, reveals the truth.
Munna Bhaiya will not return
Divyenndu, who gained widespread fame for his portrayal of Munna Bhaiya, has decided not to reprise the character. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, he shared how deeply the role affected him in real life, even confirming that Munna will not be making a comeback.
Divyenndu discusses the character's overwhelming impact
"I'd like to officially announce my departure from 'Mirzapur' Season 3," Divyenndu stated. "Being immersed in the character affected my personality substantially. One should not romanticize a role too deeply—it's far from easy. I've faced numerous struggles. At times, it felt as if I was engulfed in darkness, suffocated. The character was so dark that you don't realize when you've slipped into that zone. Only upon stepping out do you grasp its depth."
It's worth mentioning that in the plot of 'Mirzapur' Season 2, Munna Bhaiya meets his demise. Nevertheless, fans harbored hope that the character might return with a twist in the third season. But according to Divyenndu, this won't be the case, surely breaking many hearts.
Recently, the creators announced that 'Mirzapur' Season 3 is set to return to Prime Video soon. By the end of this year, another thrilling dose of the series will be available for audience enjoyment. Alongside Divyenndu, the series stars Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, and Pankaj Tripathi.
