Sonam Returned to Indore After the Murder, Hid for 3 Days
New revelations have surfaced in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. Contrary to initial beliefs that Sonam Raghuvanshi had disappeared in Meghalaya post-murder, she actually returned to Indore, hiding in a flat for three days in the Devash Naka area. According to police officials, Sonam stayed in Indore from May 25th to May 27th before vanishing again. Now in Shillong, a medical examination is concluded and she will be presented in court.
Police sources revealed that following Sonam's arrest, investigations into her movements showed she reached Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh post-murder, surrendering at Nandganj police station. Meanwhile, Indore police discovered she returned to Indore right after the murder, residing in a rented flat in the Devash Naka locality.

Beyond Sonam's capture, police also detained co-conspirators Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput. Captured from Indore and Uttar Pradesh, they were delivered to Shillong by Meghalaya police's 12-member team. At the airport, a frustrated passenger slapped one suspect, though their identity remains unclear as the suspects were mask-clad; yet, the incident video became viral on social media.
Raja and Sonam's Marriage Held on May 11th
Raja and Sonam wed on May 11th in Indore before honeymooning in Meghalaya. On May 23rd, they vanished from Nongriat village. Raja's remains were found in a forest on June 2nd. The autopsy showed two sharp strikes to the head- one from behind and one from the front.
Police investigations uncovered that Sonam and Raj Kushwaha plotted Raja's murder together. To avoid suspicion, Raj did not accompany the trip to Meghalaya, but he sent three accomplices who allegedly completed the deed and returned.
The murder's complexities unravel further. A local tour guide identified three unfamiliar boys with Raja and Sonam. Upon the police showing several images, he identified one of them.
Initially, Raja's parents doubted Sonam could commit such an act, but now, everything is clear. Emotionally, Raja's mother questioned, "If Sonam liked someone else, why did she marry? Why murder my son?" Meanwhile, Raj Kushwaha's sister and mother defended his innocence, claiming Sonam and Raj's relationship was merely employer and employee, addressing each other respectfully.
Indore police seized clothing from Vishal Chauhan's home worn during the murder, aiming for forensic analysis to detect bloodstains. The court in Shillong will see Sonam and the accused presented with police seeking remand.
