The mystery of the murder of newlywed Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore in Meghalaya has unraveled a devious conspiracy by his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and her lover Raj Kushwaha. The Shillong police believe Sonam meticulously planned to eliminate Raja using cunning tactics. Sources say Sonam tasked Raj with hiring assassins and sending them to Shillong, while instructing him to stay in Indore to avoid suspicion and prevent arrest.
Police sources indicate that had Raj Kushwaha traveled to Shillong, Sonam's family could have posed obstructions, potentially exposing the plot. Hence, Sonam kept Raj in Indore and dispatched the assassins Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi to Shillong. As Sonam was moved from Ghazipur to Patna on transit remand, the police interrogation unearthed her shrewd and devious mind.
Sonam and Raja's marriage was arranged in January this year through the Raghuvanshi community's matrimonial app. Several conversations occurred between their families through this app, leading to their marriage on May 11. Nine days post-marriage, on May 20, they headed to Shillong for their honeymoon. After checking out from Shipara Homestay in Nongriat village on May 23, Raja was brutally murdered, and his body was thrown into a gorge near the Wei Sawdong Waterfall. His body was found on June 2, and Sonam was captured in Ghazipur on June 9.

According to the police, Sonam planned this plot with her lover Raj Kushwaha. Raj worked at Sonam’s father’s plywood factory and arranged for the assassins to be sent to Shillong.
Meghalaya DGP I. Nongrang revealed that CCTV footage, call records, and a statement from a tourist guide exposed the conspiracy. Sonam is currently being transported from Patna to Kolkata and further to Guwahati, and then to Shillong.
