Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case:

In the murder case of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, the investigation extends beyond merely a love triangle. The police are examining many other dimensions of this case. Meghalaya Police DGP, Idashisha Nongrang, shared this insight on Monday. She mentioned that the investigators do not consider the love triangle as the sole motive in this homicide.

On May 23, Raja Raghuvanshi, was murdered on his honeymoon trip in Sohra, Meghalaya. On June 9, police arrested his wife Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three hitmen.

State DGP Idashisha Nongrang, in a conversation with PTI, stated, 'We are probing whether there is more to this case. It is peculiar that she (Sonam) harboured such animosity towards her husband within mere days of marriage.'

The DGP noted, 'We are scrutinizing all possible facets of this murder. We possess substantial evidence, and efforts are underway to resolve the case efficiently. We have a strong case.'

Sonam (25) and Raja (29) got married on May 11 in Indore and arrived in Meghalaya via Guwahati, Assam on May 21 for their honeymoon. Both vanished short hours after checking out from a homestay in Nongriat, Eastern Khasi Hills District on May 23.

Later, Raja's disfigured body was discovered near a valley by Weishadong Falls on June 2. Subsequently, the search for Sonam continued. She was found on June 9 at around 1,200 kilometers away in Ghazipur District, Uttar Pradesh, where she eventually surrendered to the police after her lover and three hitmen had already been captured.

The murderers, associates of Raj, assaulted Raja with a knife at a parking lot near Weishadong Falls in front of Sonam. According to police, they disposed of the body into a gorge afterward. Post-murder, Sonam fled the area and utilized taxi, bus, and train to travel through Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh before reaching Indore.

Interestingly, she left behind her mangalsutra and a ring in the trolley bag at the Sohra homestay, raising police suspicion.

Meanwhile, a tourist's viral Instagram video surfaced showing Sonam and Raja climbing just hours before the murder. In the footage, Sonam, wearing a white full-sleeve shirt similar to one found at the crime scene, along with black pants, appears walking a few steps ahead of Raja.

Police confirmed the video's authenticity to PTI. SP of Eastern Khasi Hills District, Vivek Sim, informed that Sonam confessed to conspiring in her husband's murder. Initially, it seemed Sonam and her lover hired hitmen; however, further investigation revealed the culprits to be Raj's close friends, who acted in his favor to murder Raja.
