It’s worth noting that Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman involved in transportation, was murdered near Weishingdong Falls in Sohra (Cherrapunji), Meghalaya, on May 23. He was on a honeymoon with Sonam, 24, when his body was found in a gorge on June 2, while Sonam initially went missing.

By June 9, Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur (UP), leading to the arrest of her lover Raj Kushwah along with accomplices Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Singh Kurmi. The Meghalaya police dubbed this investigation 'Operation Honeymoon'.

According to police, Sonam had devised Plans 'A' and 'B' with Raj Kushwah. If hired hitmen failed their task, Sonam intended to push Raja into the gorge under the guise of taking a selfie. On May 23, between 2:00 PM and 2:20 PM, an ambush laid by Akash, Vishal, and Anand resulted in Raja’s murder with a sharp weapon (dao).

Dismissing these allegations, Sonam's father, Devi Singh, stated, “My daughter’s character is being wrongfully defamed.” Meanwhile, her brother Govind apologized to Raja’s family, admitting, “I was unaware of my sister’s affair.”
