In Uttar Pradesh, the police administration has adopted a strict stance on the prayers held during the last Friday of Ramadan, Alvida, and Eid-ul-Fitr. The police have made it clear that no permission will be granted for street prayers this time. Should anyone be found performing prayers on the roads, FIRs will be lodged against them, and recommendations will be made to cancel passports and licenses.

The City SP of Meerut, Ayush Vikram, stated that all religious leaders and imams have been requested to ensure that prayers are conducted in mosques or designated praying areas. He mentioned that should anyone perform prayers on streets, they will face strict actions. Last year, some individuals prayed on the streets, leading to cases against 200 people, with over 80 people identified. The police are vigilant against such actions this year as well.

Monitoring with Drones and CCTV

The police have announced that sensitive areas will be monitored using drones and CCTV cameras. Social media will also be scrutinized, with actions against those spreading any kind of rumors. The police have warned that if anyone violates the rules, their passport and driving license could be canceled, with a court NOC required for new applications.

Actions Have Been Taken Before

The City SP recounted previous rule violations during Eid, leading to legal actions. This year, the administration is preemptively alert and will not spare those breaking rules under any circumstances. Additional security forces will be deployed in all sensitive regions.
