In Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, the police have declared that there are no illegal Rohingya or Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the area. They have refuted claims suggesting that local scrap dealers, predominantly from the Muslim community, are providing them refuge. This response from the authorities came after two petitioners involved in the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute case wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking action against alleged illegal immigrants and scrap traders.
Dinesh Kaushik, a resident of Govardhan, alleged that these immigrants work as scavengers during the day and engage in various crimes like theft and robbery at night. He claims illegal intruders are present across all districts of the state and demands their expulsion from the country. He alleged that during police inspections, scrap traders hide these immigrants in their warehouses and continue their operations with their help. Several saints from Vrindavan have supported this demand.
In a separate petition, Dinesh Falahari claimed that most scrap businesses across the state are run by members of the Muslim community, who employ illegal immigrants under their protection. He accused these individuals of possessing fake Aadhaar cards, granting them access to government resources like ration supplies, aided by vote bank politics. However, Mathura police officials have firmly rejected these allegations.
The police stated that currently, there are no illegal Rohingya or Bangladeshi immigrants in the district. A few months ago, about a dozen Rohingyas were found residing in the Jaith area, and legal action ensued against them. A police official explained that these individuals were Rohingya Muslims staying under refugee permits, and legal proceedings commenced when their permits expired, resulting in arrests. Some remain in jail, while others are out on bail.
It was also claimed that in recent years, 135 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the district have been sentenced by the court and subsequently deported to Bangladesh. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar stated, "I have no information regarding any letter sent to the Chief Minister nor have I been contacted, nor has any formal complaint been lodged. To my knowledge, there are no reports of illegal Rohingya or Bangladeshi infiltration in the district."
Furthermore, several religious leaders in Vrindavan have voiced their opinions on the matter. Mahamandaleshwar Ramdas Maharaj asserted, "Illegal Muslim immigrants should be expelled, and saints should be ready for stern action if needed." Ram Ki Dasi Yugeshwari Devi expressed, "Illegal Rohingyas are attempting to turn our country into chaos." Devi Meera Kishori has demanded the expulsion of all illegal Muslim immigrants, acknowledging that actions against them are ongoing nationwide.
