Maruti e Vitara Launched:

Today marks the beginning of the Mobility Global Expo (BMGE 2025) in the nation's capital, Delhi. On the first day, Maruti Suzuki, the country's leading car manufacturer, unveiled its first electric car, the 'Maruti e Vitara'. This electric SUV has been long-awaited. The same electric SUV was previously presented in India as the concept Maruti eVX during last year's Auto Expo.

The new E Vitara is a global model for Suzuki, set to be manufactured at Suzuki's Gujarat plant, with plans to export 50% of its production to Japan and European markets. Maruti Vitara Electric is claimed by the company to offer a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge. Additionally, it features 7 airbags as a standard offering. Currently, the SUV is showcased merely for exhibition.

What Delights in the New E Vitara:

The new Suzuki E-Vitara largely resembles the concept model, with its design and size quite akin to the Maruti eVX. While some sharp angles have been softened, its bulk of design mimics the eVX concept. It boasts tri-slashed LED daytime running lights at the front and rear, charging ports on the front edges, and curves over the rear wheel arches. The rear door handle is also placed on the C-pillar, reminiscent of the old Swift.

Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, this electric SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and stands at 1,635 mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, it provides more room than the Creta, optimizing the placement of a larger battery pack. Its ground clearance of 180 mm is suitable for most Indian road conditions. Depending on the variant, its total weight ranges from 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg.

Size of the Maruti e Vitara:
Battery Pack and Range:

Maruti e Vitara is available with two variably sized battery packs (49kWh and 61kWh). The larger battery pack comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup known as the All Grip-E. It employs the blade cell lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack sourced from the Chinese car manufacturer BYD. Unlike other manufacturers that import battery cells for local assembly, Suzuki imports the whole battery pack from BYD.

Power and Performance Insights:

The power is impressive; with a 49kWh battery generating 144hp at the front axle's single motor, and a larger 61kWh single-motor providing power output up to 174hp. Both versions deliver 189Nm torque. However, the E-Allgrip (AWD) variant adds an extra 65hp motor at the rear axle, boosting total power output to 184hp and torque to a remarkable 300Nm.

Features With a Difference:

Inside the SUV, a new operating system with dual-screen interface replaces the traditional setup, offering informative digital dials smarter than the Smartplay Pro+ system. The rear section comfortably features split-folding seats, adjustable headrests, and three-point seatbelts with ISOFIX child seat mounts for all passengers.

The Maruti e Vitara brims with advanced features, including an electronic parking brake with auto hold, drive modes including 'Trail' for AWD versions, hill descent control, single-zone auto climate control, a wireless phone charger, side and curtain airbags, heated mirrors, and advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety.
