A high-stakes encounter unfolded in Telangana's Mulugu district jungles on Sunday, where police forces confronted Maoists, resulting in the death of seven insurgents. This incident occurred during a search operation in the dense woods, which is now under thorough investigation.

The Special Anti-Naxal Force known as 'Greyhounds' launched a meticulous search in the forested territory, leading to an unexpected clash with heavily armed Maoists. According to police reports, the Maoists initiated gunfire, provoking a return fire from the authorities. The fierce exchange led to the demise of seven Maoists.

Among those neutralized was Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, a prominent leader within the proscribed CPI (Maoist) and the Telangana State Committee's Yellandu-Narsampet Secretary. Police retrieved a cache of weapons from the clash site, including two AK-47 rifles and other armaments.

In light of these developments, security measures in the area have intensified. Police continue the exhaustive search in neighboring jungles to ensure no remaining Maoist members evade capture. The Indian government has designated CPI (Maoist) as a terrorist outfit due to their persistent violent campaign to retain influence over tribal and rural regions.
