Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Manipur, ten Kuki legislators have expressed their support for the central government's decision. They commend the initiated steps towards a 'timely negotiated settlement' for the political crisis.

The Kuki legislators have voiced their expectations for a comprehensive political roadmap from the central government, aiming to restore peace and justice after the imposition of presidential rule. In their joint statement, the ten MLAs—comprising seven from BJP, two from Kuki Peoples Alliance (KPA), and one independent—expressed hope for swift actions to alleviate the suffering of those affected by ethnic conflicts and displacement.

According to PTI, the ten Kuki legislators have reiterated their acceptance of the central government's decision to suspend the assembly, hoping that the Government of India will ensure peace and justice through a comprehensive political roadmap under a negotiated settlement. They further anticipate timely actions to alleviate the difficulties faced by the affected and displaced people.

It is noteworthy that presidential rule was instated in Manipur on Thursday, following the suspension of the state assembly—an action coming days after Chief Minister N Biren Singh's resignation. The ethnic conflict, which ignited in May 2023, saw intense clashes between the majority Meitei community in the Imphal valley and the Kuki community residing in surrounding hilly regions, resulting in over 250 deaths and displacing thousands.
