A case of dangerous driving involving an SUV with red and blue lights has surfaced in Delhi. The Delhi Police revealed on Wednesday that the SUV, adorned with blue and red lights, was driven in a zigzag manner to create Instagram reels and boost followers on the social media platform. The incident has led to a case being registered in the Rajouri Garden area.
According to news agency PTI, the clip uploaded on Instagram on February 22nd has garnered over 500,000 likes. The police stated that during the video's production, the vehicle's number plate was removed. The SUV has been seized, and the driver remains at large.
A police official stated that the car owner Piyush Sharma claimed the car was lent to a friend who shot the stunt after a late-night party. Sharma's statements are being investigated. The matter came to light when a resident welfare association in Rajouri Garden filed a complaint with the police on February 27th, citing reckless driving and stunt performance.
What did the DCP reveal?
DCP West, Vichitra Veer, commented, "The videos of these stunts were posted on Instagram with pride, to gain followers and to mislead the youth." He disclosed that upon noticing the video, a team of officers from Rajouri Garden Police Station seized the Toyota Fortuner.
Teams formed to apprehend the driver
The person involved in the reckless driving incident is rumored to be the son of a Delhi Police officer. Yet, senior officials have declined to comment, noting that the accused has not been arrested so far. A case under IPC Section 279 (Rash Driving) has been registered, and teams have been formed to capture the car owner's friend involved in the incident.
