The Uttar Pradesh Police swiftly responded and arrested a young man from Kanpur for issuing a death threat to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The arrest took place following a perilous message sent to hotline 112, that prompted the Lucknow Police to file a case.
The Joint Commissioner of Kanpur Police, Anand Prakash Tiwari, stated that the suspect had hatched a devious plot to entangle his girlfriend's father due to some personal grievances. Two days prior, he had pilfered the father’s mobile phone and used it to send the menacing message.
Upon interrogating the mobile phone’s owner, it emerged that his device had been missing for two days. Further investigation revealed the suspect’s dislike for his girlfriend's father, who was displeased with their relationship, prompting him to concoct a malicious scheme to trap him.
The police highlighted that the accused, presenting himself as 18 years old, would undergo a verification process to determine his accurate age. They're also pursuing serious charges against him for mobile theft. According to the Kanpur Police, the threat was purely a tactic to vent a personal feud, aiming to get the girlfriend's father out of the way.
Anand Prakash Tiwari, Joint Commissioner of Kanpur Police, clarified that the actual intent was not to pose a genuine threat to CM Yogi Adityanath. The police have detained the young man and are preparing to present him in court tomorrow, where he is likely to be remanded to jail.
