A shocking incident has surfaced in Kota, Rajasthan. A man attacked his ex-wife with acid after holding her captive, leaving her severely burned. Police have arrested the suspect in connection with the case.
Ex-Wife Attacked with Acid
According to news agency reports, the incident occurred on Saturday morning. The accused, Sunil Dixit (50), tied up his former wife, Mamta Gaur, while she was asleep, binding her hands and feet with ropes. He then poured acid on her, resulting in serious injuries, scorching her 50 percent. After committing the attack, he locked the house from outside and fled.
The injured woman somehow managed to free herself and called her brother, who sent a neighbor to the house. With the help of local residents, they broke down the door and rushed the woman to the hospital. She is currently stable and undergoing treatment.
The Injured Woman is a Government Teacher
The acid attack victim, Mamta Gaur, is a government teacher in Sawai Madhopur and had come to Kota to attend a teacher's conference. She was staying with Sunil Dixit. Based on the victim's statement, the police have registered a case under sections 124 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt), 127 (2) (wrongful restraint), 79 (outrage), and 109 (1) (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police arrested the accused in Chittorgarh on Sunday night. Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma stated that the accused is unemployed and in depression. Further questioning is expected to reveal the motive behind the attack.
