On Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge seized the opportunity at the beginning of the parliamentary proceedings to address the accusations of nepotism made by Ghanshyam Tiwari the previous day. Kharge mentioned that he was not present when the Parliament adjourned the previous day. At that time, an honorable member Ghanshyam Tiwari raised an issue. Kharge said that he had no idea about Tiwari's intentions. He clarified that this was his first generation in politics—his parents were not involved in politics.
Kharge delved into his early days in politics, expressing gratitude to his father for raising him and blessing his journey thus far. He then shared that he was 85 years old, correcting himself after initially saying 95. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar interjected, wishing Kharge a life longer than 95 years. To this, Kharge responded that he does not wish to live longer in such an environment.
Kharge recounted Tiwari's statement that his name, Mallikarjun, was derived from one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, insinuating a tradition of politics in his family. Kharge questioned why Tiwari had to bring up allegations of nepotism against him. Kharge demanded that Tiwari's comments be removed from the records. Chairman Dhankhar assured that any comments hurting Kharge would be expunged.
The Chairman remarked on Kharge's six-decade-long public life and appreciated Tiwari's four-decade-long parliamentary career. He added that Tiwari's intentions might not have been to offend. He concluded by stating that any remarks that seemed offensive would be looked into. His comments also included a reflection on the responsibilities and the serious nature of parliamentary debates.
The Chairman emphasized that the House is composed of ruling and opposition parties, which should not be seen as adversaries. Rigorous examination of debates would be upheld. He reminisced about his time working closely with Tiwari in the legislative assembly. During the proceedings, an incident arose where Kharge remarked that the ruling party was misusing the Chairman's position.
During Question Hour, Shiv Sena UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi asked a question regarding NEET and NTA, which Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan answered. SP MP Ramji Lal Suman was supposed to ask a supplementary question but dragged in RSS references, which Chairman Dhankhar objected to.
Kharge responded, arguing that members speaking within rules should not face disruption, accusing the ruling party of misusing the Chairman. The Chairman stated that every citizen can contribute to national development as a constitutional right. He described RSS as a global think tank, emphasizing its role in nation-building, a statement he deemed constitutional.
