In a significant development in the murder case of Jeetan Sahani, father of the Vikassheel Insaan Party leader and former minister Mukesh Sahani, the Bihar Police has made a decisive breakthrough. They have arrested three more suspects connected to the crime, as confirmed by Darbhanga SSP J. Reddy.

According to information provided by the police, the three individuals apprehended have been identified as Sitare, Chhote Lahri, and Mohammad Azad. The prime suspect, Kazim Ansari, was previously taken into custody by the authorities.

Main Suspect in Police Custody

Prior to these arrests, police had revealed that a financial dispute led to the execution of the murder. Kazim Ansari had borrowed 1,00,000 rupees in 2022, and an additional 50,000 rupees in 2023, at a 4% interest rate from the deceased. In exchange, Ansari had mortgaged the papers of his land. He owned a clothing store, which closed down after some time, leading to unemployment.

As time passed, the interest accrued became overwhelming. Ansari had gone to Jeetan Sahani to negotiate the debt, but an altercation broke out. Subsequently, on the night of July 16th around 10:30 PM, Ansari and his accomplices reconnoitered Sahani's home. This activity was also captured on nearby CCTV cameras.

Suspects Flee with Red Cabinet

Taking advantage of a power outage, main suspect Kazim and his associates entered Jeetan Sahani's home through the back door. They demanded the return of the land papers and the locker key where these papers were kept. When the victim resisted, Kazim attacked him with a knife. Following the assault, the perpetrators fled with a red cabinet containing the documents, which they later discarded into a nearby pond due to its weight, before escaping.

A Brutal Murder

Jeetan Sahani, the 70-year-old father of former State Minister Mukesh Sahani, was brutally stabbed to death on July 16th in Darbhanga district, at their ancestral home in Supaul Bazar, Viraoul. His mutilated body was recovered from the inside of the home. He had been savagely stabbed multiple times with a sharp weapon, and his body parts were mercilessly dismembered. The bloodstains on the walls of the room were a grim testimony to the brutal attack.
