The Haryana Legislative Assembly elections have been announced, with elections for 90 seats in the state to be held in a single phase on October 1, and results declared on October 4. Following the announcement, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) is facing a major crisis as 4 of its MLAs have resigned in the last 2 days. Notably, JJP MLA and former minister from Tohana, Devendra Babli, resigned from all party positions today, submitting his resignation to party president Ajay Chautala through a letter.

Furthermore, JJP MLA Ishwar Singh has resigned from the party's primary membership and all responsibilities. In 2019, Ishwar Singh won the Guhla Assembly seat in Kaithal on a JJP ticket. He submitted his resignation to JJP's national president, Ajay Chautala.
What's the Political Scenario in Haryana?
It's noteworthy that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently in power in the state. In the 2019 assembly elections, BJP emerged as the largest party with a 36.7% vote share, winning 40 seats. Back then, Congress secured 28.2% of the votes and captured 31 seats, placing it second. Dushyant Chautala's newly formed Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) managed to win 10 seats with a 14.9% vote share.
Additionally, the Haryana Lokhit Party won one seat with less than 1% vote share. Seven independent candidates also won, making it into the assembly. However, no party reached the magical figure of 46 seats needed for a majority.
Following the results, BJP formed the government with the support of JJP, Haryana Lokhit Party, and independents. Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, however, BJP broke its alliance with JJP, replacing Manohar Lal Khattar with Naib Singh Saini as the Chief Minister.
2014 Assembly Election Results
In the 2014 Assembly elections, BJP won for the first time, clinching 47 seats to form a majority government. INLD won 19 seats, coming in second, while Congress secured 15 seats, finishing third.
