In the wake of the Maharashtra elections, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has announced its first list of 45 candidates. Eknath Shinde himself will be contesting from the Kopri Pachpakhadi seat. As the grand alliance reaches a consensus on seat sharing for the upcoming assembly elections, parties are busy announcing their candidates. Sources suggest that in the coalition, BJP might contest 152 to 155 seats, while Shiv Sena under Eknath Shinde is likely to field candidates in 70 to 80 seats, and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) may contest in 52 to 54 seats.
Eknath Shinde's party has nominated Sadanand Shankar Sarvankar from the Mahim seat. Competing against him is Amit Thackeray, son of MNS chief Raj Thackeray. The list also features names of MLAs who left the Uddhav Thackeray faction during a rebellion, along with ministers from Shinde's camp. The party has introduced new faces, including stalwarts from political families and some independents.
The list also reflects a hint of family connections, with tickets being allotted to several independent candidates. Among them are Ashish Jayswal from Ramtek, Narendra Bhondekar from Bhandara, Ramesh Boranare from Vaijapur, and Gyanraj Chougule from Umarga.
- Amol Patil, son of Chimanrao Patil, has been granted a ticket. - Abhijeet Adsul, son of former MP Anandrao Adsul, has received a ticket. - Vikas Bhumre, son of MP Sandipan Bhumre from the Paithan seat, secured a ticket. - Manisha Waikar, wife of MP Ravindra Waikar, is contesting from Jogeshwari (East) seat. - Kiran Samant, brother of Minister Uday Samant, will run for the Rajapur seat. - Suhas Babar, son of late MLA Anil Babar, has been given a ticket for the Khanapur seat.

BJP Remains the Largest Party in the State
Maharashtra houses 288 assembly constituencies. Currently, the state government is a coalition of BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and NCP (Ajit Pawar). In the 2019 elections, BJP emerged victorious in 105 seats. This time, the grand alliance is ready to enter the fray with full force, as the final round of discussions over seat sharing is underway. Presently, BJP holds 103 legislators, Shiv Sena (Shinde) has 40, and NCP (Ajit) has 43. Therefore, BJP stands as the largest party in the state.
Elections to Take Place on November 20th
Voting for Maharashtra's 288 assembly seats is scheduled for November 20th, with results to be declared on November 23rd. In the last election, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54, and Congress 44. However, post-elections, Shiv Sena parted ways with NDA and formed a government in alliance with NCP-Congress, with Uddhav Thackeray as the Chief Minister. In June 2022, internal strife within Shiv Sena led Eknath Shinde to split the party and form a new faction with 40 MLAs under BJP's support, eventually becoming the Chief Minister himself. Now, Shiv Sena is divided into two factions. NCP under Sharad Pawar has also split into two groups with Ajit Pawar leading a faction.
