The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has unveiled its preliminary list of candidates for the impending assembly elections, naming 45 individuals. Notably, MNS chief Raj Thackeray's son, Amit Thackeray, has been placed in the race from the Mahim constituency, marking his entry into the electoral arena following his cousin Aditya Thackeray.

Under Raj Thackeray's leadership, a critical meeting was convened on Monday. Party leaders reviewed constituency observers' reports before finalizing the candidate list. The primary focus was to position strong candidates in areas with high winning potential.

Especially, there was significant focus on the potential candidacy of Amit Thackeray from the Mahim constituency. Ultimately, the final decision rested with Raj Thackeray, who opted to launch his son from Mahim.

Tensions also surfaced within the party regarding Amit Thackeray's anticipated role, particularly involving seasoned MNS leader and former MLA Nitin Sardesai, who expressed dissatisfaction and reportedly did not attend the meeting. However, sources clarified that Sardesai had informed Raj Thackeray of his stance beforehand.
