Nestled in Thane district of Maharashtra lies Borivali village, home to the notorious terrorist mastermind, Saquib Nachan. On Monday morning, armed with a tip-off, a police and ATS team conducted a raid here. This operation extended to Nachan's other known hideouts.
Sources revealed that ATS officials sprang into action early Monday morning upon receiving intelligence inputs. A force of approximately 300 police officers executed raids on 20 premises, which included Saquib Nachan's village and residences linked to his associates.
A police officer disclosed that the raids began at 2:30 AM, extending until 3 PM in Borivali village.
Let us inform you that Saquib Nachan was convicted for orchestrating widespread terror attacks across India, alongside being involved in two bomb blasts in Mumbai in 2002 and 2003. After serving his sentence, he was released in 2017, having been a prominent member of SIMI. Post-release, he joined ISIS.
Reports suggest he led the Maharashtra ISIS module, recruiting many individuals to his terror outfit and declaring Borivali village a liberated zone akin to Al-Sham (Syria). Alongside his son Shameel, 14 others were apprehended by the NIA in December 2023.
The December 2023 NIA operation at Nachan's residence and 14 others' premises in Borivali culminated in the seizure of substantial arms, ammunition, bladed weapons, and cash. Borivali had once become Padgha's terrorist stronghold.
It is noteworthy that the Aaj Tak/India Today team was the only media group that managed to reach terrorist mastermind Saquib Nachan's house. During Monday's raid, the attitude towards media in Nachan's village was hostile.
