Today, the 25th of March, Monday, we celebrate the festival of Holi. According to the Hindu calendar, this year, the festivities are accompanied by a lunar eclipse. Beginning at 10:24 AM, the eclipse will last until 3:01 PM, for a total duration of approximately 4 hours and 36 minutes. Astrologically, the eclipse will occur in the Virgo constellation and is categorized as a penumbral lunar eclipse. It will be visible in places such as Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, the Americas, Japan, Russia, Ireland, England, Spain, Portugal, Italy, as well as over the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans.

Will the period of 'sutak' be observed?

Normally, the 'sutak' begins about 9 hours before the lunar eclipse commences. However, since this eclipse will not be visible in India, the 'sutak' period will not be applicable. Should the 'sutak' have been observed, it would mean a halt to auspicious activities such as worshipping deities.
