In Ludhiana, Punjab, a 16-year-old girl reportedly took her own life by hanging from a ceiling fan in her home, according to police on Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred late on Monday evening in Maan Garh village, about 20 kilometers from the Koom Kalan police station area.

According to SHO Parmpal Singh, the girl's parents were at work at the time of the incident, leaving her alone at home. On returning, the father found her room locked from the inside. Despite repeated knocking, there was no response. Breaking the door open, the family discovered her hanging from the fan with a scarf around her neck.

This migrant laborer family hails from a village in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Police reported that the family mentioned the girl used to work but stopped due to illness a few months ago, spending most of her time at home. It's suspected that prolonged illness or mental stress led her to take this extreme step.
