In a chilling incident from Malihabad, Lucknow, police have apprehended Dinesh Kumar in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old woman, while the prime suspect, Ajay, is still at large. Three others tied to the incident are in custody as investigations unfold. The authorities have also recovered the auto-rickshaw used in this heinous crime.
Reports suggest the victim traveled from Banaras to Lucknow and boarded an auto-rickshaw headed for Chinhat. However, the driver, Ajay, diverted towards Malihabad and picked up his brother, Dinesh, on the way. The brothers made a failed attempt to assault the woman; when she resisted, they brutally strangled her and dumped her body in a deserted location.
The police utilized CCTV footage and surveillance techniques to capture Dinesh Kumar, although Ajay remains elusive. Ajay is an infamously notorious criminal with a record of 23 cases of theft, robbery, and dacoity in the regions of Kakori, Para, Thakurganj, and Malihabad, with a bounty of ₹1 lakh now placed on him.
Responding swiftly and efficiently, police managed to detain an accused individual, while persistent efforts are being made to capture the main suspect, Ajay. Stringent actions will be enforced against all involved in this gruesome crime.
According to the woman's brother, she disembarked at the Alambagh bus station from Varanasi around 1:30 AM on Wednesday. She called her brother to inform him she'd reach Chinhat in 30 minutes. After waiting and growing concerned, her brother called back, only to hear her express confusion about their whereabouts. Her brother asked to speak with the auto driver, who made excuses about metro construction rerouting their path.
Upon further communication, the brother requested his sister to share her live location, revealing they were headed towards Malihabad. Recognizing the ominous implications, he immediately contacted the police at the Alambagh bus station, initiating a desperate search for his sister.
