The Pakistan-based organization Lashkar-e-Taiba has issued a warning of a potential terror attack in India, prompting tightened security across multiple locations. Enhanced security measures are in place at Delhi’s Red Fort and Chandni Chowk. On Friday, two IEDs were discovered in Punjab and Kashmir.

In Punjab, an IED was found in a suspicious bag near the Rayya police post in Amritsar. The bomb disposal team promptly arrived at the scene and successfully deactivated the device in time.

In Kashmir, another IED was discovered in Safapora, Ganderbal. The bomb detection squad of the Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police located and defused the device. This marks the third IED discovered in Northern Kashmir within a week. Previously, one IED each was found on Tangmarg Road and in Baramulla on Thursday.

SSP Sohail Qasim Mir told India Today, 'A suspicious bag was spotted near the police checkpoint. The bomb disposal team was immediately called, and they confirmed it was an IED. Following protocol, it was defused successfully.'

Lashkar-e-Taiba May Target Religious Sites

Lashkar-e-Taiba indicates a potential terror plot targeting religious and tourist sites in Delhi. Intelligence inputs have suggested that the group might aim at a temple in Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. Following the alert, security in the area has been ramped up. Just three months ago, an explosion near the Red Fort resulted in 12 fatalities.
