Sources suggest that Sanjay Roy peeked into the operation theater before committing the crime in the hospital's seminar hall that night.

CCTV footage showed Sanjay Roy entering the emergency building of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital at 4 AM on the day of the incident. He was wearing a Bluetooth device around his neck. However, 40 minutes later, when he exited the building, the earphones were missing. The police found the Bluetooth device lying near the victim doctor's dead body. The investigation revealed that the device was connected to Sanjay Roy's mobile Bluetooth. This is how the police linked Sanjay Roy to this gruesome crime.
Investigations by the Kolkata police revealed that Roy's mobile phone contained multiple violent and obscene video clips. According to local media reports, he allegedly confessed to his crime without remorse and told the police, 'You can hang me if you want.' Neighbors shared several details about his personal life. They alleged that he was married multiple times. His three wives left him due to his abusive nature. His fourth wife passed away from cancer last year.

The CBI has received permission to conduct a polygraph test on Kolkata rape-murder case accused Sanjay Roy. The investigative agency had filed a petition in court.
