In the wake of the Kolkata rape-murder case, there is widespread anger across the country. However, it is difficult to fathom the pain and suffering the victim's family is enduring. Speaking to Aaj Tak, the trainee doctor's father said that seeing people fighting for his daughter and demanding justice gives him strength.
When asked about the investigation being handed over to the CBI, he remarked, 'How can we be satisfied? Will handing the investigation to CBI bring my daughter back? Talking about satisfaction is very wrong. We hope to get something.' He also mentioned that the CBI officers have not yet spoken to him.
'The entire country is fighting for my daughter'
The victim's father said that the nationwide protests have given him strength. 'We must remain courageous and hopeful,' he said. On the question of the death penalty for the accused, he expressed a desire for those who wronged his daughter to receive equal punishment. He believes that the quicker the punishment, the quicker their sorrow will slightly ease.
'What we have lost cannot be compensated by anyone, be it the CBI or anyone else. Nobody can return what we've lost. The entire country is fighting for my daughter, and that significantly boosts our courage,' he said.
'Our dream shattered in one night'
Talking about his daughter, he said, 'Her entire day was devoted to a single purpose—studying. She knew nothing beyond her books. She even wrote in her diary that she wanted to win a gold medal in MD. We had educated her with great difficulty. She reached this stage by studying 10 to 12 hours daily. In one night, all our dreams were shattered.'
