In the shocking South Kolkata Law College gang rape case, the victim's lawyer has made a startling claim in a conversation with Aaj Tak. He mentioned that the victim was initially molested in the college's union room. Following this, she was forcibly dragged to the security guard's room and ruthlessly gang-raped.
The victim's lawyer Arindam Kanjilal alleged that the main accused, Manojit Mishra, who is a former college student and currently a local leader of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), exercises significant influence due to his political connections. His political power is so immense that he perpetrated this horrendous crime, even with security present on the college premises.
Arindam stated that the victim was weeping and pleading for help in front of the accused, yet her cries went unheard. He added that such incidents are occurring in Bengal. A girl crosses the road, enters the college, and gets gang-raped—a harsh reality of Bengal.
The lawyer asserted that the culprit who committed this incident is very powerful. He further remarked that those who committed this crime are connected with the TMC. However, being affiliated with the TMC doesn't give anyone the unchecked power to commit any wrongdoing, especially a crime as grave as rape, regardless of whether the victim is a woman or a man.
The victim's lawyer expressed that Manojit Mishra is a powerful individual. While he wasn't a bad person, and actually someone who helped those in need, it is perplexing why he executed this atrocity. However, it is true that a crime was committed, and I firmly believe that since he committed it, he will definitely be punished.
