In an unsettling verdict emanating from Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, the court has passed judgement on a three-year-old case involving the abduction, assault, and murder of a young girl, whose heart was then consumed by her captors. The couple implicated, alongside two others, have been sentenced to life imprisonment, accompanied by a fine of ₹20,000 each. In response, the victim's father has expressed his gratitude to the court for their decision.
The case dates back to Diwali three years ago in the village of Bhadras, under the Ghatampur police jurisdiction. A 7-year-old girl playing outside her home was kidnapped by Ankur alias Hoola and his accomplice from the village, followed by a heinous crime. Her body was later discarded near a temple at the village's outskirts. The following day, her mutilated remains were discovered.
All four accused are sentenced to life imprisonment
The familyi mmediately filed an FIR at the Ghatampur station. The police investigation resulted in the arrest of a local couple and two others, who were subsequently remanded to custody. The case hearings took place in the Mati POCSO court of Kanpur Dehat, which culminated in the sentencing of the couple and two others to life imprisonment and the imposition of hefty fines.
Lawyer makes a profound statement on the case
Advocate Pradeep Pandey disclosed that on November 14, 2020, the couple Parshuram and Sunaina from Bhadras village, along with their nephew Ankul and another accomplice named Veeran, were involved in the abduction. The motive was rooted in superstition: 18 years of childless marriage led them to believe consuming a child's heart, as suggested by a shaman, would bless them with offspring.
Pushing for capital punishment in High Court
The lawyer further stated that they had requested the execution of the convicts during the trial. Despite the life sentences handed down, they plan to escalate the matter to the High Court in pursuit of capital punishment for the culprits.
