In a shocking incident in the Vaikkal area of Kollam district, Kerala, a husband, suspicious of black magic, threw hot fish curry on his wife's face. The wife was severely burned and has been hospitalized. Following this incident, the accused spouse has gone missing, and the police have registered a case and commenced a manhunt.

According to the police, this sensational event took place around 10 AM on Wednesday in the vicinity of Chadayamangalam police station in Vaikkal. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Rezila Gafur, and her husband, Sajir, is on the run. During the incident, Sajir instructed Rezila to untie her hair, sit before him, and allow him to apply ash to her hair.

Moreover, he insisted on tying a locket around her neck, allegedly given by a practitioner of black magic. When Rezila refused these absurd demands, Sajir angrily flung the boiling curry onto her face. The attack happened so abruptly in the kitchen that Rezila had no time to react.

Upon hearing Rezila's screams, neighbors rushed to her aid and immediately transported her to a nearby hospital. Doctors have stated that while her face and neck are burned, she is out of danger. Sajir harbored a long-standing delusion that some unseen power overshadowed his wife.

He frequently connected her behavior to black magic and had assaulted her several times due to these suspicions. Rezila had previously accused him of violence and lodged a complaint with the police. Sajir was warned but not detained. Subsequently, he began consulting with local mystics.

He regularly visited a local guru who claimed expertise in exorcisms and chanting techniques. Rezila revealed that under the guru’s influence, her husband engaged in bizarre rituals, emphasizing applying ashes, wearing lockets, and tying talismans. He resorted to violence on her, even attacking their son occasionally.

A police official stated that a case has been registered against the accused husband under section 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code for causing hurt using dangerous weapons or methods. A search operation is underway. The police are making efforts across neighboring areas to apprehend him. The role of the guru in this case is also being examined.
