Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan describes the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal as a tactic to divert attention away from the controversy surrounding electoral bonds. He suggests that this arrest was a calculated move to shift the public's focus.
Vijayan asserts that the central government was well aware that the issue of electoral bonds could become a significant problem. To deflect attention, he alleges that the central government, BJP, and the RSS orchestrated the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister. This, he says, is a telling sign of the country's current political direction. Vijayan accuses the leadership of the ruling BJP under RSS influence of adopting an attitude of being above the law and disregarding public opinion.
The Electoral Bond Scandal
Vijayan further claims that the CPI(M) was never in favor of accepting electoral bonds and calls it the biggest scam in the country's history. Speaking of Kejriwal's arrest, he says, 'The RSS wants to send a message that they are above the laws of the country and will stop at nothing to push their agenda.'
Only CPI(M) Opposed CAA: Vijayan
He also did not spare Congress in his criticism, claiming that while CPI(M) was protesting against the CAA, Rahul Gandhi was out of the country. However, the Congress leaders are now stating that they had technically opposed the act.
Why the Citizenship Law Was Created in India
Let it be known that the CAA was enacted in December 2019. Many opposition parties have spoken against this law, labeling it discriminatory. Essentially, the CAA aims to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, without proper documentation.
