Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia attended the Delhi Assembly for the first time on Thursday after getting bail from the Supreme Court. Both leaders were jailed in Tihar for corruption related to the liquor policy 'scam'. Following his resignation from the CM post, Kejriwal's seating in the Assembly has been changed. Kejriwal is now seated in the 41st position, while Sisodia occupies the 40th position. The Supreme Court bench led by Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan granted Kejriwal bail on a bond of 10 lakh rupees and two sureties.
Special Two-Day Session
Delhi Minister Gopal Rai attended the Assembly's two-day special session on Thursday's first day. The first agenda of the new session will be to obtain a vote of confidence for Atishi, the newly appointed CM of Delhi. Gopal Rai said, 'Discussions will be held on current issues related to Delhi. Under Atishi's leadership, the new cabinet will present a vote of confidence in the House.'
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj mentioned that discussions are likely on the illegal cutting of trees in Ridge and the removal of bus marshals. 'We will discuss the removal of bus marshals in Delhi. The issue of illegal tree cutting in the Ridge area will also be addressed. A vote of confidence motion may be introduced tomorrow.'
During the Assembly session, discussions on Delhi's rising pollution levels before winter may also take place. On Wednesday, Environment Minister Gopal Rai shared the government's action plan to reduce pollution. He said the main theme of this year's winter action plan is 'Working Together to Fight Pollution.' Speaking to the media, Rai stated, 'The main theme of this year's winter action plan is 'Working Together to Fight Pollution.' Our government will implement the winter action plan with this theme.'
