The craze for creating social media reels is surging among the youth. Wherever these youngsters go, they start making reels without considering the sanctity of the place. However, the government has begun to discipline those making reels in the Kedarnath temple complex. Authorities have identified 84 individuals and have fined them, contributing 30,000 rupees to the public treasury.

The Uttarakhand government has completely banned reels and photography within a 50-meter radius of the temple precinct. Video recording and social media reels made by these individuals, as well as 59 people causing disturbances under the influence, have been targeted for enforcement. The police have collected nearly 30,000 rupees in fines through this action.
Throngs of devotees in Kedarnath
The renowned Kedarnath shrine has witnessed an influx of pilgrims this season, with over four hundred thousand visitors paying homage since the temple doors reopened.
Despite restrictions on making reels in the temple grounds, many have been caught in the act. In such cases, the police have proceeded with the issuance of fines. The continuous police operations target those creating disturbances or consuming substances in and around the temple precinct.
Police urge against making videos
The police and temple committee members continuously patrol the temple vicinity. Additionally, there is an ongoing campaign against substance abuse in Kedarnath.
In light of these enforcement actions, SP Dr. Vishakha Bhadane of Rudraprayag has stated that the police have taken action against a total of 143 individuals for making reels and consuming substances. She appeals to pilgrims visiting Kedarnath to respect and uphold the dignity of this holy place.
