A shocking story from Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh reveals how financial desperation drove a mother to sell her 6-year-old son for just 95,000 rupees. The news rattled the local community, but fortunately, the child was swiftly recovered thanks to prompt police action.
The child's father, upon learning about the atrocity, immediately filed a report at the Pashchim Shaarira police station. In response, law enforcement took the matter seriously and launched an investigation.
Details emerged that on 21st January, Brijesh Kumar, son of Sukuru and resident of Kharona, lodged a police report claiming his wife Mamta Devi sold their 6-year-old boy. This led police to file a case under Section 143(4) of the BNS Act.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Superintendent Rajesh Kumar ordered an immediate team assembly to ensure the child's recovery.
CO Kaushambi JP Pandey stated that utilizing surveillance and technical tools, the Pashchim Shaarira police commenced their probe. Thanks to a tip, the boy was safely found near the intersection by Teva village on the 22nd of January, Thursday.
Authorities arrested two women involved in the scheme. The arrested are the child's mother, Mamta Devi, and her accomplice Anita Shukla, residents of Jayrampur Sangam Kunj Colony of Dhumanganj police station, Prayagraj.
During questioning, Mamta Devi admitted her crime, revealing her dire financial situation. She confessed to selling her son through Anita Shukla to an unknown person for 95,000 rupees, with 22,700 rupees remaining unspent from the amount.
The police recovered the 22,700 rupees from the accused and filed the necessary paperwork before sending them to prison.
