'Kashmir is not Gaza today...', Shehla praises Modi Government again

Shehla Rashid remarked, 'Kashmir is not Gaza, and that's clear now. Kashmir was only involved in protests, and you know of sporadic militancy and infiltration incidents. For the changed situation, I would like to credit the current government, especially the Prime Minister. Also, Home Minister Amit Shah, who ensured a political situation that should be called bloodless.'

Former JNU Students' Union Vice President Shehla Rashid has made significant remarks about Kashmir while praising Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Reflecting on the situation in Kashmir, Shehla stated that it is not like Gaza. She acknowledged the political mandate by PM Modi leading to a bloodless situation in the region.

Grateful for today's transformed situation: Shehla Rashid

When inquired about her earlier sympathies with stone-pelters, Shehla responded affirmatively regarding the past, specifically 2010. However, witnessing today's peaceful scenario, she expressed immense gratitude for the present state.

Praised Modi-Shah

Shehla acknowledged the dramatic difference, pointing out that Kashmir engaged only in protests, not extensive violence or infiltration. For the positive change, she credits the current administration, highlighting Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah's role in creating a non-violent political framework.

Critic of Modi Government

It's noteworthy that Shehla Rashid has been a vocal critic of central policies, including multiple stances against the Modi government. Following the revocation of Article 370, as a former JNU student union leader, Shehla vehemently opposed the move. She accused the military of severe misconduct, charges the army entirely refuted.

Challenged Article 370's revocation, later withdrew petition

Recently, a perceptible ideological shift seems apparent in Shehla Rashid. On August 15, she tweeted about improving human rights records in Kashmir, commending the government's efforts in resolving identity crises among Kashmiris. She was previously seen praising Prime Minister Modi's policies on energy and pollution, highlighting the brighter future for Kashmir’s new generation, one free from conflict. Notably, Shehla alongside Jammu and Kashmir IAS officer Shah Faesal had contested the Supreme Court regarding Article 370's abrogation. However, in July, both withdrew their petitions from the apex court.
