This year, in the district of Faridkot, Punjab, women celebrated the festival of Karwa Chauth with great enthusiasm and devotion. Across the nation and abroad, married women fasted without water, wishing for the long life and well-being of their husbands. In Faridkot, too, women observed the fast all day, upholding their traditional customs.
The Karwa Chauth fast began in the morning with 'Sargi,' where the mother-in-law provided various dishes to her daughter-in-law, and the elder sister-in-law did the same for her younger sister-in-law. Following this, women gathered at temples and Brahmin homes to listen to tales of Karwa Chauth. Adorned in sixteen adornments, women were seen expressing their joy and devotion through dance and drum beats.
For some women, this was their first Karwa Chauth, while others observed their 20th fast. The excitement to view the moon reached its peak in the evening. When the moon appeared in the night sky, women completed their fast by first viewing the moon through a sieve and then seeing their husbands. Throughout the city and region, there was significant excitement among women for Karwa Chauth.
