The Karnataka High Court rejected a writ petition filed by RTI activist Snehmayi Krishna, which sought the transfer of the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allocation case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Following this verdict, the Lokayukta will now investigate the case. Last month, after hearing all the parties, the court had reserved its judgment.
The High Court's decision marks a relief for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, encapsulating his dismissal from allegations of irregularities linked to the unauthorized allotment of 14 sites to his wife, Parvathi BM, by the Development Authority.
'Welcoming the Verdict...'
Siddaramaiah expressed happiness over the court's decision, stating, "I welcome the court's decision and will respect the judgment."
Meanwhile, the petitioner stated their intention to appeal the High Court's decision in the Supreme Court and press for a CBI investigation into the matter.
Previously, they had alleged threats and bribes to retract the case against the Chief Minister and his family members. Krishna is one of the principal complainants in the MUDA land acquisition scandal.
