The murder of Karnataka's ex-Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash has sent ripples throughout the state. On Sunday, Om was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his Bengaluru residence. Initial information indicates that his wife, Pallavi, is allegedly the prime suspect. According to sources, police have detained both the wife and daughter. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for an autopsy.
The couple had been experiencing marital discord for several years, having frequent arguments about finances. They have one son and one daughter.
Prakash was a 1981 batch IPS officer hailing from Bihar. He took office as Karnataka's DGP and IGP on February 28, 2015, and retired in January 2017.

What Did Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand Say?
Speaking to the media, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand said that around 4 to 4:30 PM on Sunday, they received information about the death of their former DGP and IGP Om Prakash. His son has been contacted and is filing a complaint regarding the incident. Based on that complaint, an FIR will be registered.
