A surprising accusation has been made by the family of a former Kargil War soldier residing in Pune's Chandan Nagar area. The family alleges that on the night of July 26, a crowd of unknown individuals broke into their home, forcibly removed women and children, and subjected them to harassment.
'Policemen disguised in civilian clothes'
It is alleged that some policemen in plain clothes accompanied the crowd, threatening them and unlawfully demanding proof of their citizenship. Victim Irshad Ahmad Sheikh stated that late on July 26, some unknown individuals, including policemen in civilian attire, invaded their home.
According to Irshad, 'At night, the women and children of our house were forcibly taken. We were then taken to the police station where PSI Madam threatened that if documents were not provided by 11 am, we would be declared Bangladeshi.'

Uncles served in the 1965 and 1971 wars
Irshad explained that his two uncles were part of the Indian Army during the wars of 1965 and 1971, and his brother served the nation in the Kargil conflict. He articulated, 'Today, the same family is being coerced to prove its citizenship. This is an assault on our dignity.'
At the time of the incident, Irshad's nephew Shamshad was also at home. Later, both were taken to the police station. The family has raised serious questions about the local police's role in the event and demands an unbiased investigation from the authorities.
