Earlier this March, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma finalized their divorce. Chahal has now openly addressed the challenges they faced during their marriage. In his recent revelations, Chahal spoke candidly about their troubled relationship, which became particularly strenuous when fraud allegations arose against him, leading to heightened speculations about their separation.
Chahal admitted that thoughts of suicide crossed his mind during this tumultuous period. Speaking on Raj Shamani's YouTube channel, he shared, 'It had been going on for a while. We decided to keep quiet until we reached a point of no return. We continued presenting ourselves as a normal couple on social media.'
When asked if they were just putting on a facade, the spinner nodded in agreement. Chahal explained, 'A relationship is often a compromise. If one is angry, the other needs to listen. Sometimes, two people's natures just don't match. While I was playing for India, she was pursuing her work. This had been going on for one to two years.'
'Everyone Has Their Own Life'
Chahal stated, 'I was giving time both here and there, with little left to think about the relationship. Each day, it felt like letting it be was the easy option. Each person has their own life and goals; as a partner, you need to be supportive.'

Chahal revealed, 'Post-divorce, people labeled me a cheat. But I've never deceived anyone. With two sisters, my parents taught me to respect women. It's not essential for people to write speculative articles for views if my name is linked with someone.'
Chahal Considered Taking a Break from Cricket
Chahal became emotional as he shared, 'Thoughts of suicide haunted me. I was tired of life. I would cry for two hours and sleep only for two hours. This went on for 40-45 days. I wanted a break from cricket. I was so engrossed in it that I couldn't focus. I shared these feelings with a friend.'
The Bandra High Court in Mumbai concluded Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma's divorce proceedings on March 20, 2025. After dating for a significant period, they married on December 22, 2020. Lately, Chahal has been away from Team India. He played his last match for India against New Zealand in January 2023.
