The district police of Muzaffarnagar had made solid arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra. Despite this, chaos erupted as Kanwariyas went on a rampage. In the Chappar police station area on National Highway-58, Kanwariyas heavily damaged a vehicle. When the car driver fled towards a roadside eatery to save himself, the Kanwariyas followed and attacked him there as well.
It is reported that during the journey, the Kanwariyas accused the car of hitting and breaking one of their kanwars. Following this, they climbed onto the car and vandalized it, causing a ruckus. A video of the incident surfaced, showing the Kanwariyas kicking and damaging the car, resulting in its body being completely wrecked.
This incident took place in the Chappar police station area of Muzaffarnagar on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway 58. Some Kanwariyas, who were carrying Ganga water from Haridwar to their destination, severely beat up a car occupant and then tried to block the road by damaging the car. On receiving the information, Circle Officer Sadar Raju Kumar Sahu reached the spot with the police force and pacified the situation.
The police received information that some Kanwariyas had stopped a car near Laxmi Food Plaza and were beating up its occupants. Upon arrival, the Kanwariyas informed the police that about one and a half kilometers back, a vehicle had hit one of their group members, prompting them to overtake the car and stop it near Laxmi Dhaba for a confrontation. However, the Kanwariyas could not confirm whose kanwar was broken. Eventually, they confirmed that there was no damage to the kanwar itself and continued on their journey.
