In a chilling episode from Kanpur, a woman has conspired with her boyfriend to murder her husband. She first took her husband from Kanpur to a hotel in Lucknow. There, in connivance with her lover, she poisoned her husband leading to his death. What followed was a staged call for an ambulance, which transported him to a government hospital. A death certificate was procured, and the cremation was conducted on the spot.
In the Naubasta police station of Kanpur, Puneet Sharma reported his daughter-in-law Neha Sharma, son Prateek Sharma, and grandchildren missing on March 20th. His daughter-in-law had visited her paternal home in Ayodhya with her husband and children on March 6th, returning on March 12th without her husband, who owned a medical store.

Neha informed her in-laws that her husband was under a significant amount of debt and had been in a car accident. She claimed he was staying there and would return after three days. When neither Neha nor Prateek returned, Puneet Sharma grew suspicious and filed a complaint.
Puneet expressed his suspicion of a foul play involving his daughter-in-law in his son's death. The police had to exert considerable effort to unravel the mystery.
After registering the case, the police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested Neha and her boyfriend Ayush Sharma.

The Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police South disclosed that the lovers hatched a plot so deceptive that it would not arouse any suspicion. Neha had made up an excuse to visit Ayodhya but instead went to a hotel in Lucknow with her lover.
In the hotel, Neha and her boyfriend Ayush Sharma gave her husband Prateek poison. After pretending that Prateek was feeling ill, they called an ambulance. Once declared dead at the hospital, they proceeded with the post-mortem and cremation on site.
Following the series of events, Neha returned to her marital home in Naubasta. She told her father-in-law Puneet that her husband had been in a car accident and that he would return home in three days. However, when Prateik did not return, and Neha left with the children, Puneet became suspicious and went to the police. The ADCP mentioned that the accused woman has two children.
The police tracked Neha and her boyfriend Ayush's mobile location, which coincided at the same place. Following this clue, both were apprehended for interrogation.
