A vegetable vendor in Kanpur, in a harrowing twist of fate, ended his own life after accusing a police officer and constable of extortion and harassment. Before taking the lethal step, he recorded a video holding the two policemen accountable for his demise. The incident has triggered a stringent response from the police officials, while the accused are currently on the run, with a manhunt underway.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Harishchandra, stated that the culpable officers are presently at large. Actions are being undertaken to secure their arrest posthaste. Furthermore, the commencement of an internal inquiry has been announced, overseen by the DCP. The errant Sub-Inspector Satendra Kumar Yadav and Constable Ajay Yadav will face disciplinary proceedings following the investigation's findings.

According to the police, should the investigation confirm allegations of extortion, charges under section 386 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) will be intensified. In connection with the case, a series of audio tapes incriminating the accused Sub-Inspector have come to light and are under scrutiny. The police have drafted a letter to the electoral officer for the suspension of both implicated officers, with the Deputy Commissioner assuring that the suspension approval is imminent.
