In Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, former block head Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl. Officials stated that following a court order, police collected Nawab Singh Yadav's DNA sample on Friday. Police, accompanied by a team of doctors, arrived at the district jail to collect the sample.
According to the agency, Kannauj Sadar Circle Officer (CO) Kamlesh Kumar informed that Nawab Singh Yadav agreed to provide the DNA sample during a court hearing on Friday, as directed by the judge. After his consent, the police team, along with doctors, went to the district jail in Anaugi to collect the sample. The sample was sealed and sent to a forensic lab for analysis.

It is noteworthy that Nawab Singh Yadav, a former block head and leader of the Samajwadi Party, who also runs a private educational institution, is accused of raping a minor girl under the pretense of offering her a job.
What did the Superintendent of Police say about the incident?
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand stated that the victim, with the consent of her parents, underwent a medical examination, which confirmed the rape. SP said the girl reiterated the rape incident in her statement before the magistrate. With the confirmation of the rape, additional charges have been filed against the accused.
The revelation of the rape case involving a minor in Kannauj has sparked a political controversy. The ruling BJP accused that Nawab Singh Yadav was once an associate of SP leader Dimple Yadav when she was an MP from Kannauj. However, the SP distanced itself from Nawab Singh Yadav, especially after his arrest on Monday.
