During the election campaign in North East Delhi for Congress and India Block candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, a confrontation was reported. Purportedly, a young man slapped Kumar under the guise of adorning him with a garland, causing chaos at the scene. It’s noted that the incident took place in Kartar Nagar, Usmanpur area of North East Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party's woman councilor Chhaya Sharma was also allegedly mistreated during the incident. Sharma has filed a complaint with the police.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing a youth approach Kanhaiya Kumar, garland him, and then strike him. Supporters of Kumar present in the crowd quickly apprehended the assailant.

AAP councilor Chhaya Sharma stated in her written complaint that at about 4 PM today, after a meeting at Satyanarayan Bhawan Councilor's office in Chautha Pushta, Kartar Nagar, about 7-8 people arrived with two of them armed forcing their way into the building, garlanded Kanhaiya Kumar, and then forcefully slapped him.

During the election campaign in North East Delhi, an altercation involving candidate Kanhaiya Kumar occurred after a purported assailant, under the pretext of garlanding him, slapped Kumar, leading to pandemonium.

The complaint further alleges that they grabbed my shawl and dragged me to the corner. Subsequently, my husband and I were threatened with our lives. It’s also claimed that ink was thrown at about 30-40 people, injuring three to four women in the process.

Worth mentioning is that Kanhaiya Kumar is the candidate for Congress and India Block from the North East Delhi seat, facing BJP's Manoj Tiwari. The elections for all 7 seats in Delhi are scheduled for May 25th.
