Bollywood actress and BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, powerfully retorted on Saturday that the region's populace would discipline the 'princes' who hurl unwarranted comments and insult the state's women. Addressing a rally in Jhakri within the Mandi parliamentary constituency, she targeted Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, labelling him 'Prince of Rampur' and expressed her objection to him referencing her Bollywood ties.
What Vikramaditya Singh had said
Singh, mentioning Kangana, had stated, 'I pray to Lord Ram for her enlightenment and hope she returns 'purified' to Bollywood from 'Devbhoomi' Himachal because she will not win elections knowing nothing about Himachal people.'
'The comment felt offensive': Kangana
In her rally, Kangana expressed, 'Now they're saying I'm impure, having come here after working in the film industry, and I should go back and purify myself first.' She found his remark offensive because it was through her film career that she supported her family, educated her siblings, treated her acid-attack survivor sister, and elevated the pride of her state.
Kangana declared that the locals would teach a lesson to the 'princes' who demean and disrespect state females. She mentioned that Vikramaditya Singh rides on wealth to compete in elections, while PM Modi was born to a poor family and witnessed his mother's struggle growing up. She asserted that's why he granted a 33% reservation for women in both Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
