BJP MP Kangana Ranaut from Himachal's Mandi Lok Sabha seat recently said in an interview that if our top leadership hadn't been strong, Punjab could have turned into another Bangladesh during the farmers' protest. Questioning the farmers' protest, she stated that in the name of the protest, rabble-rousers were spreading violence and there were rapes and murders happening at the protest site. The opposition has continuously attacked Kangana over this statement. The Congress has demanded action against her under the NSA. Meanwhile, the BJP has distanced itself from Kangana's statement, calling it her personal view and stating that the party has no connection with it.
What Kangana Ranaut Said About the Farmers' Protest
In a media interview, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said that if our top leadership had been weak, India could have faced a situation similar to Bangladesh. Everyone saw what happened during the farmers' protest. Violence was spread in the name of protest. There were rapes and people were being hanged. Justifying the central government's decision to repeal the farm laws, Kangana said that when the bill was repealed, all the rioters were shocked because their planning was for the long term.
Congress Raised Questions
Opposition parties have targeted Kangana over this statement. Punjab Congress leader and former minister Raj Kumar Verka has demanded that an FIR be registered against Kangana Ranaut and action be taken against her under the NSA. Appealing to the Chief Minister of Punjab, he said that Kangana has defamed Punjab and the farmers and should be sent to Dibrugarh Jail. Verka said that Kangana keeps raising questions on Punjab's leaders and farmers, and action should be taken against her.

BJP Distanced Itself
Punjab BJP leader Harjeet Singh Grewal called it Kangana's personal statement. He said, 'Talking about farmers is not Kangana's department. This is her personal statement. PM Modi and BJP are pro-farmers. Kangana should refrain from giving such statements. It has been reported that BJP leaders have complained to the top leadership about Kangana's statement.
