The Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna has established a three-member committee to investigate allegations against Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma in the 'Cash at Home' case. This investigative committee will be led by Justice Jassit Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. It will also include Justice J.S. Sondhwalali, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, and Karnataka High Court's Justice Anu Sivaraman.

In light of the investigation, the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court has been instructed not to assign any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Verma until a decision has been made in the matter.

Adhering to transparency, documents including the report sent by Delhi High Court's Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay, Justice Yashwant Verma's response, and related materials will be uploaded on the Supreme Court website. It is noteworthy that a large amount of cash was purportedly found at Justice Yashwant Verma's official residence in Delhi during a firefighting operation. Nevertheless, sources indicate that Justice Verma was not present in the city at that time.

Upon learning of the incident, CJI Sanjiv Khanna convened a collegium meeting where it was unanimously decided to transfer Justice Yashwant Verma to Allahabad High Court. Previously, Justice Verma was stationed at Allahabad High Court until October 2021.

The Supreme Court clarified that Justice Verma's transfer is not related to the 'Cash at Home' controversy. The top court decisively stated that the internal investigation is being conducted as per established procedures, and his transfer is unrelated to this controversy. In a press release, the Supreme Court dismissed any rumors and misinformation about the cash allegedly found at Justice Verma's residence and rejected all speculations.
