In an alarming escalation of targeted violence in Karachi, a vehicle carrying foreign nationals was struck by a suicide bomber. Among the seven on board were five Japanese citizens, who narrowly escaped harm.

The attack occurred in the bustling neighborhood of Mansehra Colony in Karachi, a city that has witnessed increasing levels of violence. All five Japanese individuals miraculously survived the explosion, although the driver and security guard tragically perished. Following the assault, the police launched a counter-operation that resulted in the death of two terrorists.

Authorities have indicated that the Japanese nationals were the intended targets, yet, miraculously, they remained unscathed and were quickly secured to safety. A senior police official has confirmed the nature of the suicide attack.

Chinese Citizens have also been Attacked in Pakistan

Over recent years, Chinese nationals have similarly been targeted across Pakistan. A recent attack claimed the lives of five Chinese engineers. Repeatedly, Baloch terrorists have targeted Chinese individuals. In August 2021, an assault targeting Chinese nationals in Gwadar killed two children and injured three. In July 2021, nine Chinese and four Pakistanis perished when a shuttle bus became the target of terrorism. A car bomb explosion at a hotel hosting the Chinese ambassador in Quetta, Baluchistan, in April 2021 killed five. This attack was claimed by the Pakistani Taliban.

In 2018, BLA attacked the Chinese consulate in Karachi, killing two police officers. In May 2017, motorcycle-riding gunmen killed ten laborers working on a Chinese project, an act claimed by BLA as opposition to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
