An intense encounter in the dense forests of Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, left 2 terrorists dead while 3 officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred, and two others were injured. This encounter is part of an ongoing anti-terrorism operation that has been active in Kathua's forests for the past four days.
According to sources, four to five terrorists were hiding in the dense forest. The security forces pinpointed their exact location in the Juthana region, sparking heavy gunfire. The encounter occurred near Jakhole village, approximately 30 km from the Hiranagar sector. The first attempt to corner the terrorists in this area was made on Sunday (March 23), but they managed to escape.

The Indian Army's Special Forces entered the terrain to eliminate the terrorists. DGP Nalin Prabhat also arrived on-site to oversee the massive operation. Security agencies suspect that the terrorists neutralized in Thursday's operation are the same who were involved in the Hiranagar encounter on Sunday.
Extensive Search Operation Underway
Since March 22, security forces have been conducting a wide-scale search operation. Police, Army, NSG, BSF, and CRPF are collaboratively involved in this operation. UAVs, drones, bulletproof vehicles, and modern surveillance technology are being employed. It's noteworthy that during the encounter on Sunday (March 23), terrorists were hiding in Sanyal village, Hiranagar, where the SOG initiated action based on secret information. The encounter lasted about 30 minutes, but the terrorists managed to flee towards the forests.

Intense Pursuit Continues
The security forces have undertaken a massive search operation aided by thermal imaging, drones, helicopters, bulletproof vehicles, and K9 units to capture the terrorists. Earlier on Monday, during a search operation in the Hiranagar area, four loaded magazines of M4 Carbine, two grenades, bulletproof jackets, sleeping bags, tracksuits, food supplies, and materials for IEDs were seized.
