During a huge assembly at Lahra Chowk in Kishanganj, Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, firmly cautioned governments against pursuing communal agendas. He emphasized that while developing roads and infrastructure is essential for the nation's progress, discrimination based on caste and religion betrays the nation's ideals. The public gathering, organized by Jamiat Ulema Kishanganj under the leadership of Maulana Giyasuddin and moderated by Maulana Khalid Anwar, saw attendance from Jamiat's General Secretary Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi, Bihar Jamiat President Maulana Mufti Javed Iqbal, Maulana Mufti Iftikhar Qasmi, district MPs, and all local legislators.
The leaders collectively called for national unity and interfaith harmony. Maulana Madani expressed deep concern over the prevailing socio-political climate in the country. He remarked on the systematic marginalization of minorities, particularly Muslims, isolating them socially, weakening them economically, and depriving them legally.
He stated, 'Justice and fairness are the pillars of any civilized society. Without these, even the mightiest states cannot survive. The increasing bias in interpreting constitutional rights and fundamental principles of the Constitution, especially concerning mosque-related matters, is a grave concern.'
Advocating Protest Within Constitutional Limits
On matters connected to the Waqf Act, Maulana Madani said, 'Waqf is a religious issue. Muslims dedicate their properties to Allah's pleasure, not as government assets. Despite repeated demands for better management of Waqf properties, governments have ignored their plight. Recent proposed amendments to the Waqf Act are concerning, as they aim to increase governmental control and erase the fundamental objectives of Waqf. We will not tolerate interference in our religious affairs and will oppose any such measures within constitutional limits.'
Maulana Madani urged Muslims to adopt patience and wisdom in facing challenges and to actively contribute to social and national development through balanced and constructive endeavors.
